If you are a novice owner, ask a specialist to accompany you to the breeder, because there is much to observe in the conformation and behavior of the animal. You should see the horse in the stall and in pasture. You should pay attention to how it behaves when someone is catching, loading and hauling it. The vet should check new horses for a number of typical disorders as well as ensure vaccinations and de-wormers are up to date.
